Candidates for the 2016 Elections

The state filing deadline to run for office in 2016 came and went this afternoon, and the state General Assembly saw a lot of activity with candidate filings.  Here is a brief summary of the filing activity in the state Legislature.  Look for more information on the legislative races in the days to come.

Kentucky State House

Unopposed – 30 legislators (22 Republicans, 8 Democrats)

Contested – 59 legislators (21 Republicans, 38 Democrats)

Retirements – 7 legislators
